Everyone knows, the heart of any good party is in the kitchen!

Our kitchen is the envy of many... just look at those appliances, floors, windows and serving islands.

The kitchen is on the mezzanine and is open to the dance floor below...allowing the kitchen workers to experience the event equally!

Enjoy a page from our brochure. It pretty much tells it all.
And check out the tab on this website on our Eco-Sculpture Park.

The Vallican Whole's Eco-Sculpture Park
- was opened in the summer of 2010 with paths & sculpture pods winding though our 11 acre forested grounds.

This is an ongoing project of the heart, that showcases upcoming and established community artists, and the Vallican Whole Community Centre's unique setting.

Ecological Parks are emerging as the new type of park of the 21st century, incorporating, respecting and highlighting the natural environment that they are created in and aiming for minimal human intervention. The Vallican Whole Community Centre's grounds are very diverse (we have streams, forest, meadows, wetland and drylands), allowing for many wonderful eco-park and artmaking opportunities.

The park’s design enhances the environment for the benefit of birds, insects and animals and includes ponds and natural water features. Interpretative signs will facilitate self guiding tours and we plan to have resource people available for contracted educational programs and tours. This will be a destination for school field trips focusing on art, ecology and the development of ecological identity.

In the summer of 2010 we hosted the sculpture park's opening event and we were a stop on the Columbia Basin Trust's Culture Tour. There are now five major pieces on the site, and several ephemeral pieces were created during various workshops.

The Kutenai Art Therapy Institute has been instrumental in developing workshops and programs for the park.
We are thankful for their collaboration.

Currently the sculpture park committee is working towards:
* installing more sculptures and involving more sculptors
* hosting community artmaking events
* hosting a regional sculpture symposium and building to an international symposium
* creating wheel chair accessible paths so everyone can enjoy the park

Stay tuned for more information on the sculpture park and for opportunities to participate.

Until then, enjoy some photos...

"On December 12. 2010 a Sinixt Slhu7kin' Family Fest Fundraiser with Evening Concert was held at the Vallican Whole Community Centre. Vallican Whole was the perfect place for this event. It offered everything needed: great kitchen space, screen, stage, tables, chairs, plus lots of outdoor and parking space. Staff is friendly and helpful. Thanks to Tamara for showing us around and to Seamus for being on hand during the event." Elisabeth von Ah.
